About Course

  1. This course is based on the WASSCE Syllabus and extracts from the GES syllabus. While it prepares students for the WASSCE, it also prepare learners to succeed in the corperate world and also become responsible citizens. This course is composed of the following.

 

Unit 1: Leadership and Followership

Meaning of leadership and followership.

Qualities of a leader and a follower.

Kinds of leaders.

Leadership styles.

The role of a leader and follower in nation building.

 

Unit 2: Our Constitution, Democracy and Nation Building

Explanation of constitution, democracy and nation building.

Features and ways of promoting democracy.

Importance of constitution in nation building.

The role of democracy in nation building.

Reasons why unity and development are more sustainable under democratic government.

How to prevent autocratic rule.

What Will You Learn?

  • 1. Understanding Leadership and Followership:
  • What leadership and followership mean, and how they work together.
  • The qualities that make a good leader (think trustworthiness, decisiveness, communication skills) and a good follower (think loyalty, responsibility, initiative).
  • Different types of leaders, from charismatic to democratic.
  • How leaders choose their styles (authoritarian, participatory, etc.) to achieve goals.
  • How both leaders and followers contribute to building a strong nation.
  • 2. Building a Nation with a Constitution, Democracy, and Unity:
  • What a constitution is, and how it sets the rules for a country.
  • The core idea of democracy, and the different features that make it work (free elections, freedom of speech, etc.).
